I challenge you to sharpen your focus! Begin this challenge at the start of a new day, as you go throughout the day each time a negative thought arises or you have a negative experience, immediately counter it with four positives – a technique known as a 4-to-1 ratio. Which is a study that negative experiences have four times the impact as a positive. Questions to ask yourself to counter the negative with four positives would be: what can make this a positive? What is the opposite of this negative? How can this be the BEST for me? What can I learn from this? I am not (negative emotion) I am (positive emotion). By answering these questions after each negative you will begin to challenge your innate negativity bias, fostering a conscious choice for optimism.
